SEBASTIÁN ALARCÓN

QUITO, ECUADOR

Sebastián Alarcón is an industrial designer based in Quito, Ecuador. His practice is currently rooted in steel explored through iterative prototyping and a process-led approach that blends contemporary manufacturing methods with direct hands-on making.

Influenced by his mechanical engineer father, his work seeks for technical sensibility: a curiosity for how materials behave, how systems and assemblys are built, and how production logic can become design language. Many projects find their direction through making itself in unexpected moments where the material reveals something the plan never anticipated.

In 2025 he launched ASET — his creative playground for furniture and objects, working closely with local craftsmen and operators in Quito to produce limited and small-batch pieces. The work has been exhibited in The Netherlands, Vienna, London, Barcelona, Milan and featured in relevant design platforms such as Dezeen and Leibal.
